Michael loved life and lived it to the fullest. He did more in his short 27 years than most do in a full lifetime. He will be missed terribly by all those whose lives he touched.

Memories of Michael

From: Mary Mathes (August 2005)

I spent only 4 hours with Mike at the 2005 Masters Golf Tournament. He was introduced to me by my daughter's friend, Ginger Dusek. Mike and I immediately began chatting. He was so personable and so interactive with not just me but everyone around him.

I said goodbye to him that day feeling like I had met a new friend and just knowing we would meet again. Mike and I made a bet on who would win the Masters and agreed someday we would pay off that debt. I was so saddened that this young man's life so full of joy and promise was taken so tragically and so suddenly.

I know those who loved him will have many memories to cherish and remember Mike. I have my 4 hours. Four hours with a funny, outgoing kid from Iowa who could talk to anyone. I will never forget him

With deepest sympathy,

Mary Mathes
